Fruitvale Public Market businesses provided hors d’oeuvres, including ethnic goodies, against the backdrop of live mariachi music and an open bar on the Fruitvale Market plaza for the Unity Council’s Oakland Today, Oakland Tomorrow annual benefit on Sept. 11. Dignitaries were on hand to lend support to the council, which provides economic, social and neighborhood services to the community in an effort to improve and empower local citizens. www.unitycouncil.org.
